Updates

The following is the record of public game progress for June 29th, 2009 through July 17th, 2009. As it was cataloged before progress reports were standardized, it is organized differently from the current format.

  • Four new landmarks and two new areas added (Mahavhi and Sovkaldr).
  • Wilderness movement has changed; fatigue gain is now based on terrain type, while the overall time required to pass through most tiles (excepting mountain and ocean) is reduced.
  • Encounters will no longer be triggered by players logging in to a previously empty wilderness room.
  • Gathering now accepts aliases ("pinecone" vs. "pine cone") and rudimentary categories ("forage for food"); these are being actively expanded.
  • Any thrown weapon that does primarily slashing/piercing damage can now lodge in wooden objects, the limbs of living creatures, and practice targets.
  • Ranged ammunition now automatically discards itself if released in an area that provides an infinite amount of it; i.e. rocks disappear in most wilderness rooms after being slung or thrown, etc.
  • Bowstrings have been made for sale in Kungesvald and Liidhaga, and some prices/selection have been altered (mostly in favor of new items).
  • Quivers are now generalized containers, so they can be used to store more than just ammunition.
  • Bows and crossbows now inform the shooter of low ammo; warning messages are displayed at 3, 2, 1, and zero shots remaining.
  • Tailoring is now available; not to be confused with sewing, it's used for resizing garments and doesn't require new skills. Check "help tailoring" for more details.
  • It is now possible to put things into containers during combat.
  • Meat, skins, and furs can be discarded in the wilderness.
  • More meat items are now cookable, mainly sausages, jerky items, pemmican, and steaks.
  • Animals are gradually being retrofitted with custom descriptions in place of mildly awkward collections of adjectives. Their previous adjectives are still present, just displayed differently.
  • The "lemote" command has been tweaked and rereleased as "noise" for making shout-distance sounds. Animals are extremely fond of using this.
  • Automatic resurrection now heals stun damage, ensuring immediate waking upon revival.
  • Character generation rooms have been made smaller so coordinates are less of a hassle. This also fixes display problem in some MUD clients.
  • More craft aliases have been added for foods and miscellaneous items.
  • A few new creatures and gatherables have been added to the wilderness.
  • The wiki has been expanded.
